CS2 pro radar settings - what pros actually run

What CS2 pros actually run for radar scale, zoom, size, and centering. The patterns that show up across donk, m0NESY, ZywOo, and others - and why most of them stick to a small range.

Last updated: 2026-06-02

Watching pro player configs is a useful shortcut for "good defaults" - they've optimised their setup for thousands of hours of competitive play. The pattern across published CS2 pro radar settings is pretty narrow: full-map, moderate zoom, slightly enlarged HUD, rotating. The interesting bit is what they don't change.

The pattern across published configs

Across published configs for players like donk, m0NESY, ZywOo, NiKo, and device, the radar section tends to look like this:

  • cl_radar_always_centered 0 - full-map view, almost universally.
  • cl_radar_scale between 0.3 and 0.5. The most common value is around 0.4.
  • cl_hud_radar_scale between 1.15 and 1.30. Bigger HUD radar, less squinting.
  • cl_radar_rotate 1 - rotating radar. Pro configs that run a fixed (north-up) radar are rare.
  • cl_radar_icon_scale_min between 0.6 and 1.0.
  • cl_radar_square_with_scoreboard 1 - on.

donk radar settings (example)

A donk-style config:

cl_radar_always_centered 0
cl_radar_scale 0.4
cl_hud_radar_scale 1.30
cl_radar_rotate 1
cl_radar_icon_scale_min 0.6
cl_radar_square_with_scoreboard 1

Note the larger HUD scale - many top players push the radar visually bigger to keep it legible at a glance during action. Tune cl_radar_scale down to 0.3 on smaller maps to keep the whole layout in view.

Why the range is narrow

Most pro radar configs sit in this band because the band is where the whole map fits and the icons stay readable. Push the scale too low and your dot drifts off-radar; push the HUD too small and player icons blur together at long distance. The accepted range is essentially "as zoomed-out as possible without losing the dots".

What pros DON'T tweak

  • Rotation. Almost no top player runs a north-up radar - rotating with the view matches the spatial map in your head.
  • Map-specific overrides. Most pros pick one setting that works across the whole map pool, not per-map binds.
  • Hidden / opacity tricks. The radar is information; making it darker is just throwing information away.

What you should change vs copy

Copy the always_centered 0 and rotation choices unchanged - everyone is doing the same thing for the same reason. The scale and HUD scale are taste - pick a value in the published range and tune to your screen size and acuity.

The line between configuring and replacing

Pro radar settings tune CS2's built-in minimap. The minimap only shows what the game chooses to surface - teammates and recently-spotted enemies. A full web radar shows everyone, all the time, on its own surface. See what is a CS2 radar? for that category.
